We asked Senior Account Manager Anne-Stuart some marketing questions. Here's what she had to say....
1. What's one thing you think every business should know about marketing?
A general understanding of analytics. You don't need to be a data nerd, but having a working knowledge of how your campaigns are performing is important. Learning to identify some key metrics will allow you to have a handle on if your various marketing efforts are working.
2. What's your go-to strategy if a client is struggling to reach their target audience?
I like a combination of SEO and Google Ads. I think SEO is one of the most important marketing efforts any business can invest in, but it takes time to see results. That's where Google Ads (or pay per click) comes in. Google Ads allows you to bid on keywords you know will produce a qualified user and I love manipulating the ad strategy to see results.
3. Where do most people go wrong with their marketing?
They chase shiny objects. While marketing should evolve and follow trends, you still need to be smart where you spend your dollars. If you keep chasing the next new thing, you probably haven't given your current marketing plan time to work. Give your marketing plan (and the team behind it) time to show results. Most marketing efforts don't change the world overnight — they take time to develop and gain traction.
4. What's the coolest marketing trend you've seen lately?
I really enjoy the expanded use of video. I see video being used in very cool ways now. From the header of a website to a billboard, I think video is an awesome way to catch your audience's attention. Along with that, I don't think you have to over engineer video anymore. Video can be subtle and still effective.
5. What's your favorite thing about working in the marketing industry?
I love putting campaigns together for a client and diving into the strategy and data behind them. My other favorite thing is that no day is the same. There is simply no way to be bored in this job. From various clients and their industries to evolving trends that require constant research and learning, I have something new to learn every day!
