Marketing Blog | Addison Clark | Richmond, VA

There have been a lot of things happening in social media since our last update -- some exciting and some disappointing. Here's what we thought was worth mentioning...

At Addison Clark, we work with some really cool companies who are doing awesome things in the Richmond area and beyond. It seemed only fitting that we spotlight these wonderful clients of ours so you can get to know them as well! This week, we are featuring our client Murphy Business & Financial, a business brokerage firm led by Michael Metzger. Metzger provides incredibly helpful services to small to mid-market businesses in the Richmond area, although many business owners have no idea what a business broker is and why they would ever need one. We are excited to share the word about Michael's services because we think they hold serious value for many businesses in our community.

At Addison Clark, we work with some really cool companies who are doing awesome things in the Richmond area and beyond. It seemed only fitting that we spotlight these wonderful clients of ours so you can get to known them as well! This week we're featuring a new client of ours, Gumenick Properties. We were hired by Gumenick Properties last month to provide creative marketing services for their Monument SquareGrayson Hill, and Libbie Mill communities in Richmond, Virginia. The Richmond Times-Dispatch recently recognized Gumenick as one of the 2015 Top Workplaces in Richmond. Looks like we're not the only ones who think these guys are pretty cool!

Social media provides a platform where small businesses can promote their brand, create a recognizable identity, and connect with customers. You don't have to look far to find businesses who are doing it well. They've built an engaging presence on social media and gained thousands of followers. But how did they get there? It all starts with creating a social media strategy. If it seems mind-boggling, don't worry. The big guys started at square one once too. We've put together a guide to creating a social media strategy based on our experience with building successful social media presences for many of our clients.

The world of social media has been buzzing lately with several updates and announcements. We decided to round up a few that we thought were worth mentioning below. Here's what's new in social media...

So you wrote a blog post. Now what? Instead of letting your words languish in the archives, bring them back to life by repurposing the content. Here are a few ways you can do that.

Our marketing manager, Anne-Stuart is taking over the blog this week to share her Restaurant Week experiences…stay tuned for more mouth-watering details!

Have you been wondering why on earth you can’t get a reservation at your favorite restaurant this week? That would be because it is Restaurant Week in RVA! What is Restaurant Week you ask? Only the most amazing week (two weeks actually—they do one in the fall) of the year! The concept of restaurant week is simple: get a bunch of restaurants to offer three-course meals at a fixed price and donate some of that money to charity. Pretty awesome right? (Nod your head yes.)

Social media is starting 2016 off in a big way, with many platform rolling out new features and big announcements of things to come. We're looking forward to seeing how these developments play out in the world of marketing this year. Here are a few things we found noteworthy this week:

By now, you've probably heard about the impending "Mobilegeddon" that will be happening on April 21st. It sounds a bit ominous but, trust us, it's not as bad as you think. Let us catch you up. In February, Google announced that it would begin using mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal for the search engine, meaning that mobile-friendly websites would appear higher in search results.

Although it has officially been spring for a few weeks now, the warm weather has just arrived in Richmond and it looks like it's here to stay. That can only mean one thing: time to get out and enjoy our city! When we're not building websites, composing witty social media posts, or erecting giant banner stands, the team at Addison Clark loves to explore the many sites that Richmond has to offer. We asked some team members to share their favorite outdoor spots around Richmond. Let us know if we missed a favorite spot of yours!
